Scott is an accomplished risk, crisis and security management professional with more than 20 years’ experience managing operational risk for a variety of commercial, government and non-governmental organizations. Scott has extensive international experience in both a military and civilian capacity, spanning both complex and traditional operating environments, in the Middle East, Eastern Europe, Africa and Asia. His military career included operational service with both the Australian and Canadian Special Forces.
Following his military service, Scott spent 3 years with the United Nations Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK), working in the missions Security Information Coordination Cell, providing strategic advice to the UN Special Representative of the Secretary General (SRSG) on risk related matters. He has also worked as an advisor to the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Afghanistan where he was responsible for developing the security plan for the 2005 Afghan Parliamentary Elections.
After leaving the United Nations in 2006, Scott joined the Pearson Peacekeeping Centre as their Vice President for International Programs. In his role at PPC he was responsible for the planning and delivery of large-scale NATO Exercises and Security Sector Reform initiatives in Africa and Latin America.
In 2012 Scott joined Unity Resources Group to lead their Risk Advisory practice and through the company’s strategic partnership with Tokio Marine HCC, one of the world’s premiere specialty insurance underwriters he has advised a wide range of policyholders helping to solve their most challenging problems and reduce their exposure to risk. Tokio Marine HCC currently have more than 3500 special risk policyholders globally, including approximately 20% of the Fortune 500. In addition to the operational experience described above, Scott holds a Master of Science in Risk and Crisis Management and is a Specialist with the Institute of Risk Management (SIRM).
